As long as you don’t quit you’ll win.

As long as you don’t quit you’ll win.

So yesterday I shared this quote. And in this post, I want to go deeper into what it means. At least to me.

Well, obviously it means if you don’t quit you’ll eventually win. Right? Yes. but there’s more to it.

First, I want to talk about what people usually do when they start something new.

They overestimate what they can achieve in a day, week month. And underestimate what they can in a year, 5 years.

They start setting these enormous daily and weekly goals like talking to 20 people a day, 300 in a week, and so on. Because they see their mentor or business partner do it. And they don’t want to fall out of the line.

But here’s the thing. Most likely, they’ve been in that business a lot longer than you.

They got the identity developed to do these things daily.

But for you and me, who are just starting out, our identity is different. Doing these activities weren’t in our life, in our daily routine before.

So what usually happens is that we go for 3–4 days, a week. All good. And then it becomes a chore. You just want to get it done, so it’s done.

Now obviously I’m not talking about everyone here. Some people can do it. And that’s amazing for them.

But for me, and maybe you reading this, it’s not like that.

I tried doing this, set huge goals of reaching out to 20–40 people a day, and it worked. Worked for 9 days. And then, I just wanted to get it done… so it’s crossed off the list.

I didn’t put effort into it, and actually listen to those people I talked to. I just wanted to get those messages out and be done with it for the day.

It also made me neglect what I was doing before, engaging with other people’s posts so on and so forth.

So what I want to get to here, is that we all work from a different frequency. And just because someone says that:

“Look, John Doe can do this, and reach out to 30–40 people a day. So can you!”

“If he can do it, you can do it!”

Yes, you can. No doubt about that. But at a different pace.

Let’s say you got into running recently. You never ran professionally before.

It’s obvious that you won’t start running for 2–3 kilometers or 1–2 hours a day from the start right? It just makes no sense.

Your body is not developed to that level yet.

You’re going to start small, and scale week by week. As you get used to doing it.

So why would you do this in your business? It’s the same thing.

Set smaller goals that you FOR SURE can get done in a day.

And if you can do more, go for it! Some days we’re more energetic than on other days, and that’s normal. If you can go longer, go! If you can reach out to more people, do it!

But make sure, that what you set out for that day is done.

And once it’s done, celebrate. Reward yourself for your small wins, because that’s what going to keep you going in the long run.

And that is how you win in the business building marathon.
